Home Run!

After an epic 8 hour nail-biting wait in the standby queue at Norway's Kristiansand ferry port, and after queue jumping two caravaned vehicles (aided somewhat by 16 batted eyelids, 2 cds and an offer to name all our children after Jørgen, the yellow breasted ferry terminal aide) we boarded the very last ferry of the day, as the very last vehicle! True shipping nerds can check out our exact boat here: http://www.colorline.com/servlets/page?section=4008&item=11729 - their beer prices and on-boat entertainment were second to none. Bh-wah happened??? Well.. there were balloon-swarded, balloon-poodled wielding toddlers, fighting/dancing to a very tight (both musically and pantalooned) covers band on deck 7. Mmm.. bass.. and a little light-heddied giddiness on the upper decks shortly before disembarking.. but we drove through Denmark and Germany (lovely big fat Riesenwurst sausage for breakfast, mustard.. bread roll.. the only heartache was having to pay 50 cents to visit the toilet afterwards.. which I didn't pay as I scrambled under the childsize barriers when the lady attendant wasn't looking, but then felt so guilty as soon as I saw the toilet seat cleaning itself!? amazing!) Unfortunately I'd incurred the wrath of the same lady by brushing my teeth in the mirror whilst stretching my lower lip to avoid a painful brush on the mouth ulcer I'd developed since the begining of the tour.. ooh this is a long blog.. and I'd tried to clean up all the spots the best I could, but her rant increased in volume as I ascended the stairs away from the crime scene.
I must have passed out for the rest of the journey until the Belgian/French border, but saw enough after that to know I want to come back.. and then Calais.. Eurostar.. and home. Heddy made it all so easy!
